Elsie Mae Magyar, 92, of Bland, VA, formerly of Anawalt, passed away on Thursday, December 10, 2020 after being sick for several months.
Born on May 19, 1928 in Elkhorn, she worked for over 20 years at the Anawalt and surrounding post offices. Elsie loved baking and cooking. During the years she lived in Anawalt, she made many wedding cakes, pastries, and cupcakes for family, her church family, and others and delighted to see them being enjoyed. Nothing meant more to her than her love for the Lord and the love she had for all of her family, extending to her nieces and nephews and to others who she thought of as such. She had several friends who kept in touch and were very special to her as well. The family expresses gratitude to Debbie Croy, NP, Nurse Linda, Dr. John Turski, special hospice nurse, Sharon, and special home health nurse Brandy. They became a part of her family. Mrs. Magyar was a member of the Heritage Baptist Church in Bland, VA, and a former member of the Long Point Missionary Baptist Church in Anawalt.
She was a daughter of the late Charles William Davis and Dora Hazel Sexton Davis. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband Charles Magyar; two brothers, Walter and Jim Davis. Also preceding her in death were two sisters in law, Carroll Davis and Margie Davis.
Survivors include her son, Bill and wife Vickie of Bland, VA, a special granddaughter, Samantha “Sam” Cox and husband Nathan of Rocky Gap, VA, a brother Jack Davis of Tannersville, VA; a sister, Dot Hutchinson and husband Paul of Winder, GA, and many loving nieces and nephews.
