Ella Mae Smothers

Ella Mae Williams Smothers, 93, of Old Bramwell Road Bluefield, West Virginia passed away on Thursday, November 22, 2018 at her residence.

Ella Mae was born on Thursday, March 12, 1925 in Rock Run, Alabama to the late James Marion Lonzo Williams and Mary Ellen Sewell Williams. She had been a resident of Bluefield, West Virginia for the last 65 years and had been a member of Brushfork United Methodist Church for the past 53 years.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Charles J. Smothers Sr.; son Charles J. Smothers Jr.; daughter Mary Smothers Irvin; four brothers Elmer, Howard, Henry and Paul Williams; one sister Thelma Bently and half-sister Bessie Wilkes.

Left to cherish her memory is her son Larry Wayne Smothers of the home; daughter Carol Smothers Hawks of Concord, North Carolina; Daughter-in-law Audrey Smothers of Bluefield, West Virginia and six grandchildren: Scott Hawks, Christopher Hawks, Charlie Smothers III, Michael Andrew Smothers, Daniel Smothers and Amanda Smothers. Thirteen great grandchildren and one great-great grandchild.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, November 26, 2018 at 2:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield, West Virginia with Rev. Melissa White officiating the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, West Virginia where family will be serving as pallbearers.

The Smothers family will be receiving friends and relatives on Monday, November 26, 2018 from 12:00 p.m. (Noon) until 2:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
