Edward Carlton Proffitt

Edward “Eddie” Carlton Proffitt, 72, of Bluefield, West Virginia passed onto his Heavenly home on Monday, August 20, 2018. Eddie was formally a resident of McDowell County Nursing Home in Gary, West Virginia. Eddie was born on April 16, 1946 in Bluefield, West Virginia to the late Estill Carlton and Martha Ellen Roten Proffitt. Eddie was an avid listener and lover of Gospel and County music, in his earlier years he attended the Church of God of Prophecy and spent his time with his friends and family. Eddie also had a CB he loved talking on he was well known as “Hard Rock”In addition to his parents Eddie was preceded in death by his best bud and Cousin J.D. Proffitt, Brenda Proffitt, Tommy Roten and good brother Charles “Chuck” Carroll and by a special sister-in-law Linda Gail Proffitt and sister-in-law Libby Proffitt. Left to cherish his memories are his loving siblings Walter Proffitt and wife Brenda of Bluefield, West Virginia; Dennis Proffitt and wife Barbara of Bluefield, West Virginia; Dearest brother Tommy Proffitt and wife Joyce of Lerona, West Virginia; Calvin Proffitt and wife Cathy of Bluefield, West Virginia; Nathan Proffitt and wife Angela of Princeton, West Virginia; Mercedes “Cissy” Lynn Shrader and husband Steve of Bluefield, West Virginia. He is also survived by a host of Aunts, Uncles, Cousins, Nieces, Nephews and other extended friends and family.Funeral service will be held for Eddie on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 11:00 a.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Pastor David Barnette officiating the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, West Virginia where friends and family will be serving as pallbearers. The Proffitt family will be receiving friends and relatives on Saturday, August 25, 2018 at 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. at the funeral home.
