Earnest Edward Grubb, 99, of Airport Road, Bluefield, WV, passed away on Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at his home.
Born on December 23, 1922 in Havaco, WV, he was a son of the late Adam and Josie Stroupe Grubb. He had been a resident of Mercer County 30 years and was retired from the US Postal Service. He was a veteran of the US Army, served in WWII, and was a recipient of the Good Conduct Medal, WWII Victory Ribbon, American Theater Ribbon, European Theater Ribbon and five battle stars. He served as a deacon at Myrtle Valley Baptist Church for many years.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Maxie Dollaeye Grubb. He was the last surviving member of his family.
Survivors include his son, Donald (Patricia) Grubb of Princeton; a daughter, Virginia (Ralph) Steele of Falls Mills, VA; 5 grandchildren, Tammy (Mike) Terry, Sherry (Randy) Graham, Michele (Darrell) Dunn, Kevin Grubb, and Gary Joe (Crystal) Cline; 8 great grandchildren, and 1 great-great grandchild.
Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 9, 2022 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Thurman Belcher, Brother Denny Bishop and Brother Harless Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where military honors will be performed by the Mercer County Veteran’s Honor Guard. Friends and family will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Saturday from 11:30-1:00 at the funeral home.
The family wishes to thank Amedisys Hospice, the Veterans Administration, caretakers Donna Cone, and Ashley Carver, and a friend and caretaker who was like a daughter, Sharon Mounts.
