Douglas Ray Woolridge

Douglas Ray "Pete" Woolridge, 76, of Skygusty, WV, passed Friday, March 14, 2025, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital in Roanoke, VA. 

Born June 16, 1948, in Welch, WV, Pete was a son to the late James and Loretta Presley Woolridge. Pete was a lifelong resident of the Skygusty area. He was a retired coal miner, working for US Steel for 38 years. He was also a 38 year member of the UMWA. 

In addition to his parents, Pete was preceded in death by his step-son, Kenneth Fowler, Jr; and a nephew, Richard Ray Woolridge. 

Those left to cherish Pete's memory are his wife, Shirley Harmon Woolridge, of the home; brother, James "J.C." Woolridge; granddaughter, Kimberly Fowler; and great grandchild, Kayden Corpenon; a special nephew Bo Woolridge of Kingston, NC and Marty Kevin Woolridge of Bluefield, VA. 

Graveside rites will be held, Wednesday, March 19, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Grandview Memory Gardens, in Bluefield, VA, with Rev. Mary Lambert officiating. Burial will follow after the services. 

Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at Grandview Memory Gardens Cemetery.
