Douglas L. Rose

Douglas L. Rose, 62, of Myrtle Beach, SC, formally a resident of Bluefield, WV, passed away on Sunday, October 20th, 2019 at Grand Strand Medical Center. Born on January 27th, 1957 in Pageton, WV, he recently retired after 44 years in the coal mines. He was the son of the late Drew and Viola (Harmon) Rose. He is survived by his wife Ramona (Bowles) Rose,  son Billy Rose of Bluefield, VA, daughter Julie Bishop(John) of Charlotte, NC, grandchildren Blake, Braydon, Cartland, Marae, and Graylee,  sisters Grace Monitor (Charles) of Nemours, WV, Dona Shavatt (Michael) of Silver Springs, Maryland,  Patricia Dillon (John) North Tazewell, VA,  brothers Carl Junior Rose of Alexandria, VA,  Sylvester Rose (Louella) of Pageton, WV,  Bill Rose (Dianne) of Pageton, WV, many nieces, nephews, and cousins.

Doug, a.k.a  “Fred” was a husband, a father, a Papaw. He was a Christian, not perfect but forgiven!  He had wonderful qualities:  he worked hard and always found ways to provide for his family. He was always willing to go run errands or put things together. He could have won an award for longest prayers. He was a talker. He was a listener. He could nap anywhere. He was slow to anger. He gave. He sacrificed. He made mistakes. He joked. He enjoyed vacation. He was loved and he will be missed. Your work here on earth is done and now you are home.

 Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, October 26, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Falls Mills Christian Church with Minister Frank Watkins officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where friends and family will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call on Saturday from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church.
