Douglas W. Miller, Sr., 78, of French Street (Bluewell), passed away on Friday, March 23, 2018 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. Born on June 10, 1939 in Mercer County, he was a son of the late Tom Miller, Sr. and Pearl Helmandollar Miller. He had been a resident of Bluewell for 17 years and was an US Army Veteran serving in the 82nd Airborne. He was a former coal miner and had retired from the Maintenance Department at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. He was a member of the South View Church on Route 20.In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Cody Ellis.Survivors include:Wife: Debbie Lewis Miller of the homeSons: Doug Miller and Kim of RockHunter Miller of BluefieldDaughter: Sabrina Ellis and Billy of NC5 grandchildren: Ashton Nunn, Stephen Miller, Aaron Miller, Brandon Lively, and Catelin Ellis3 great grandchildren3 step-childrenSisters: Marlene Owens of FLShirlee Fisher of Hampton Roads, VAJoyce Davis of Dayton, OHDrema King of Bluewell, WVPatricia Hubbard and Howard of MontcalmBrother: Thomas Miller and Pat of BluewellFuneral services will be conducted on Tuesday, March 27, 2018 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Pastor Jerry Novell and Pastor Darrell Church officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where friends and family will serve as pallbearers.Friends may call on Monday from 6-8PM at the funeral home.Online condolences will be accepted at www.cravens-shires.com. Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is serving the family.
