Douglas Eugene Blankenship, 74, of Pocahontas, VA, passed away on Thursday, August 2, 2018 at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.
Born on April 3, 1944 in Crystal, WV, he was a son of the late Pearl Gilmore. He had been a resident of Tazewell County for 22 years and was a retired truck driver and barber. He was also the co-owner, along with his wife, of the D’s&P’s Variety Store in Brushfork.
In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Charles Gilmore and Wilbur Blankenship.
He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather to his:

6 grandchildren and 3 great grandchildren

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, August 9, 2018 at 1:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with pastors Danny Scott and Ann Nash officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where Josh Edwards, Austin Edwards, Andrew Rabon, John Blankenship, Tim Shrader, Joe Murphy, Jonathan Delida and Herbert Casey will serve as pallbearers.
Friends may call on Thursday, prior to services, from 12:00-1:00 at the funeral home.
