As the wind blows a sweet whisper into the air my friends it is true that God has called an angel
home.
Donna Kay Quillian Grzelka was born December 20, 1964 in Montcalm, West Virginia.
She was the most precious youngest daughter of Macil Gillenwater Quillian and the late Arthur
Randolph Quillian. Donna made her home in a special little area of Montcalm in which many of
the residents loved her for the beautiful person that she is. She leaves behind her loving and
doting husband Joe Grzelka who has proudly stood beside her over the years and has held her
hand throughout the duration of the disease that has taken her away. Donna's youngest son
Michael also of the home will forever be grateful for the love, support, and delightful food that
his mom has always provided. Donna's eldest son, Jonathan (JP), wife Kern, and Donna's
grandsons Dylan and Mason of McComas, West Virginia will fondly remember her amazing
driving ability and especially how much she loved driving in the snow (she didn't drive in the
snow). Her daughter Christy and husband Doug grandsons Austin, Alex, Hendrix, and Trenton
of Pittsburgh, PA will never forget her love for olives (because they all hate them).
Stepdaughter Mary Duncan Midkiff, husband Eddie, and 2 step granddaughters of Princeton,
WV will cherish their time with Donna and the light she put in Joe's eyes. She leaves behind her
brothers Butch and Diane Quillian of Middlesboro, KY, Millard and Kathy Quillian of Sarasota,
FL, and her best friend, sister, and all around go to gal, Leeta Collins of Montcalm, WV. She has
been united with her beloved father Arthur Randolph Quillian, brother Timmy Quillian, brother in
law Frank Collins, and nephew Darrell Perkins (Dude) in that beautiful paradise above the skies.
Her sweet mother will miss her daily phone calls that she received throughout the day
informing her of what was happening between Montcalm and Glenwood Park Retirement
Village where Donna dedicated more than 20 years as a CNA. She will be missed by many
nieces, nephews, cousins, coworkers, and so many more that refer to her as a friend. She had
a great love of animals and was a mother to many of them throughout her life. An old story of
Donna that was often told is one from her early youth. Her daddy walked outside to find her
helping her dog dig holes (always wanting to help them animals!) She may have got into a little
trouble but to her it was worth it because who knows what treasures they could have come up
with. As we prepare to say goodbye to a beautiful soul let us not forget the strength, kindness,
and joy that she brought to each and everyday that she graced this Earth. The family would like
to thank Dr. Joel Schor and the staff of Hospice Compassus for their care of our beloved
Donna.
Her viewing will be held at Craven-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, WV on Saturday, June 22, 2019 from 5:00pm until 7:00pm. With a memorial service held at 7:00pm officiated by her daughter, Christy Quillian Odham.
In lieu of flowers the family requests a consideration of donating to Hospice Compassus or the Mercer County Animal Shelter.
