Dennis Wesley Asbury

December 21, 1957 — December 28, 2019

Dennis Wesley Asbury, 62, of Norfolk, Virginia passed away on December 28th, 2019.
Dennis was born on December 21st, 1957 in Princeton, West Virginia to Bill Graham Asbury and Rita Delphine Jones.
Dennis grew up the oldest of 6 children. His family followed his father's military career and moved around many times throughout his life. Dennis spent some of his childhood in Virginia and went to high school in Newport News. He previously lived in Kansas and Oklahoma, where he married and had children. He worked in heating and air conditioning and spent several years working as a Derrickhand on an oil rig in Woodward, Oklahoma. Dennis spent his last few years as a resident in the Hampton Roads area of Virginia.
Dennis had a sense of humor and a love for cheeseburgers and sweets. Dennis was kind hearted and had a very giving soul. He often gave to others without thought of the cost to himself.
Dennis was cared for by his loving niece, Ashley Goodwin, who often took him to do his favorite things, like shopping at Walmart and going to Golden Corral. He enjoyed taking trips and spending the holidays with his niece's family. He spent the last week of his life enjoying his birthday, visiting with his grandma for her 99th birthday, and enjoying time with his family.
He leaves behind his two sons, Joshua James and Bryan Keith of Preston, Kansas; his grandsons, Jason Moody of Saint Peter's, Missouri and Gage Asbury of Great Bend, Kansas; his sister, Tammie Yarborough and husband Charlie, as well as their three children of Orlando, Florida; his grandmother, Lehona Morris of Princeton, West Virginia; his niece, Ashley Goodwin, husband, Richard, and their two children, Gabriel and Benjamin of Norfolk, Virginia; and his nephews, Brandon Farmer of Danielson, Connecticut, Corey Farmer of Niantic, Connecticut, and Brady Foster of Mystic, Connecticut, as well as many aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his daughter, Denna Lyn Asbury Moody; his sister Vonne Andria Asbury Foster; his brothers, William "Billy" Kaiser Asbury, Dwayne Asbury, and Edgar Asbury; both of his parents, Bill Graham Asbury And Rita Delphine Jones Asbury; and his grandfathers, Herbert Davidson Morris and Edgar Wesley Jones.
