Delton Stanley “Hambone” Sparks, 68, of Bluefield, West Virginia passed away on Tuesday, May 08, 2018 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.
Hambone was born on August 23, 1949 in McComas, West Virginia to the late Joseph and Hazel Barlow Sparks. He was retired from the Mercer County Board of Education. He proudly served his country in the United Sates Army during the Vietnam Conflict.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by three brothers Carl Eugene “Boogie” Sparks; Elmer Sparks; Donnie Sparks and three sisters Evelyn Repass, Jean Dillo and Enda “Sue” Ruth Repass.
He is survived by his daughter Angela “Sissy” Brown and husband Charlie of Nemours, West Virginia; one son Delton “De” Sparks II of Bluefield, Virginia; six brothers Joe Sparks and wife Mark of Phoenix, Arizona; Bobby Franklin “Chukie” Sparks and wife Sharyon of Dyersburg, Tennessee; Douglas “Buddy” Sparks and wife Pamela of Abingdon, Virginia; Rickey Sparks and wife Maxine of Peterstown, West Virginia; Fred “Poochie” Sparks and wife Frances of Princeton, West Virginia and Dean Sparks and wife Antia of Princeton, West Virginia. One sister Janie Sparks Stanger of Bluefield, West Virginia and two grandchildren Mathew Brown and Josh Brown both of Nemours, West Virginia. Ex-wife and friend Peggy Sparks of Honaker, Virginia.
Funeral service will be held on Saturday, May 12, 2018 at 4:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield, West Virginia with Minister David Kirby officiating the service. Military rites will be performed by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard.
The Sparks family will receive friends and relatives on Saturday, May 12, 2018 from 3:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home.
