Deborah Eugenia Burks

On Sunday, January 31, 2021, Deborah Eugenia Burks, loving mother and grandmother passed away at age 62.

Deborah was born June 25, 1958 in Richlands, VA to Lacey "Gene" and Mildred "Rene" (Tony) Burks. She raised two sons James Ray Day, Jr., and Joseph Kevin Day, and one daughter, Rebecca Day. She also helped in raising two of her grandchildren, Gabriel Xavier and Abbey Isabella Shrewsbury.

She had a passion for music and loved watching football. She was a die hard Steelers fan. She enjoyed all  types of music. Two of her favorite artists were Bob Seger and Pit Bull. She loved anything Norman Rockwell, from paintings to collectables. She was known for her quick wit, sarcastic sense of humor, and had a heart of gold.

Deborah was preceded in death by her father, Lacey and her mother, Mildred. She is survived by her three children James Ray Day, Jr. and wife Christi of Tazewell VA;  Joseph Kevin Day of Tazewell VA; and Rebecca Day and partner Annie Rife of Montcalm WV; one sister, Teresa Burks Sarrubbo and husband Joe of Deltona FL; one brother Lacy Eugene Burks, Jr. of Advance, NC; and six grandchildren, Laken Day, Kasey Day, Felicity Brooke Day, and Joseph Ellis Day all of Tazewell VA; Gabriel Xavier Shrewsbury, and Abbey Isabella Shrewsbury, both of the home. Many nieces and nephews and her loving doggie, Maggie, whom she loved very much.  Cravens-Shires Funeral Home is serving the Burks family.
