David Elwood Stevens, 91, of Bluewell, WV, passed Wednesday, December 11, 2024, at WVU Medicine Princeton Community Hospital.
Born June 9, 1933, in McComas, WV, he was a son of the late Bill and Ocie Graham Stevens. David was a graduate of McComas High School and later joined the United States Army, serving from 1956-1958. He later worked as a welder for over 30 years at Coppinger, Eimco, and Baker Machine Shop. He had been a resident of the Bluewell area since 1961. David was a dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather.
In addition to his parents, David was preceded in death by his son, Michael David Stevens; sisters, Lorraine Freeman and Adena Brady; brother, Randall Stevens; two infant brothers, Kenneth and Billy; and son-in-law, Donnie Gardner.
Those left to cherish David's memory are his wife, Marquetta White Stevens, of the home; daughter, Debbie Gardner, of Princeton, WV; grandchildren, Keri Brooks, Jayme Stevens, Kevin Gardner, Kelsey Stevens and wife Kendall, and Eric Stevens and wife Hillary; great grandchildren, Tre' Gardner, Kaleigh Brooks, Maggie Stevens, John Stevens, Teodore Stevens, Maddox Teer, and Thea Teer; and sisters, Macie Helmandollar and husband Bobby of Bluewell, WV, Judy Mcghee, of Bluewell, WV, and Brenda Bowers and husband Charlie, of Laurel, MD.
Funeral services will be held Friday, December 13, 2024, at 2:30 PM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Pastor Dana Truckenmiller officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell, WV, with grandsons and friends of the family serving as pallbearers.
Friends may call an hour prior to services, from 1:00-2:30 PM, at the funeral home.
