David McClellan Byrd

David McClellan Byrd, 63 of Bluefield, WV died on Monday, October 9, 2023, at Princeton Community Hospital.

Born April 4, 1960 in Camp LeJeune, NC. He was the oldest son of the late Clyde and Madonna Lawless Byrd. 

Everyone who knew David knew immediately that he loved his family and would do anything he could to make sure they all knew that they were loved unconditionally. He was always there to lend a helping hand and would give the shirt off of his back to help them. Most of all, he took great pride in all of his grandchildren, and loved being their Paw Paw Byrdie. David will be dearly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.

David was preceded in death by his wife, Dale Marie Byrd; father, Clyde Junior Byrd; mother, Madonna Lawless Byrd; and sisters, Madonna Lynn Byrd and Diane Irene Byrd-Holbrook. 

Survivors include his sons, David McClellan Byrd II and Dustin Clint Byrd, both of Bluefield, WV; a daughter, Ashley Lynn Washington of Bluefield, WV; grandchildren, David Byrd III, Emily Elizabeth Byrd, Issac Patton Byrd, Cameron Gregory Back, Arabella Rose Lynn Ann Porter, Chanze Whitt Porter, Aaleyah Darlene Byrd, and Adelyn Nova Byrd;  brother, Tim Byrd of Thomasville, NC; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends. 

Services will be held at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home on Saturday, October 14, 2023 beginning at 1pm for friends and 2pm for family and close friends with Rev. Allen Fuller officiating. All who knew and loved David are welcome to join us as we celebrate his life. "
