Danny Reed, age 69, of Princeton, WV formerly of Sandlick passed away on Friday, September 15, 2023, at his residence surrounded by family. Born March 16, 1954 in Bluefield, WV, he was a son of the late John D. and Louise Reed. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brothers, Larry and Jimmy Reed and his in-laws, Rayford and Pauline Kilgore. He was the last surviving member of his family. Danny worked as a coal miner for 36 years. In his spare time, he enjoyed his antique vehicles, spending time with family, watching NASCAR and football, and listening to JR1 Sports. Danny loved watching the Little Generals football team. He had a heart of gold and would give you the shirt off his back.
Those left to cherish his memory are wife of 49 years, Sharon Reed; his son, Michael Reed and wife, Kristin of Sandlick; daughter, Leeann Taylor and husband, Eddie of Princeton; grandchildren, Trey Taylor, Rylee Reed, Brooklyn Hayes, Maddy Taylor, and Macey Hayes. He had a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins. Special friends, Larry Auton, Missy Havens, Kevin Hedges, James and Jessica Hedges, and Jackie Spalding.
A memorial service will be held 6:00 PM Tuesday, September 19, 2023 as Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Pastor Dana Truckenmiller officiating. The family will receive friends from 5:00 PM until the time of service. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made in Danny’s memory to the Montcalm Little Generals Football League at 5606 Sandlick Rd., Bluefield, WV 24701.
