Clovis Cox

October 2, 1929 — October 26, 2017

In the early morning hours of October 26, 2017, Clovis Cox, 88, of Bluefield, WV, completed his journey here on Earth to meet his Savior in Heaven. Born in Montcoal, WV on October 2, 1929, he was a son of the late Don Lee and Velma America Cox. He was the eldest of nine children and his love for his brothers and sisters and their families was a special joy for him. He was preceded in death by a brother, Ardie Cox and wife Phyllis; brother, Lakewood Cox and wife Bettina; and brother in law, John Lawless. Clovis attended the Conklintown and Bluefield Churches of God. His passion and enthusiasm for the trucking industry led to many successful businesses and remained with him throughout his life, particularly among them were Patsy Trucking Company, and the companies he ran with his brothers, Melvin, Lakewood and Ardie Cox. He spent much time overseeing his farms and cattle and loved to work in his gardens and deliver produce to everyone he came across. He was a kind, humble, and very generous man who never met a stranger. His charisma and his willingness to help others endeared him to all who met him. There are so many things to be said about this special man, but his wish was that things should be kept simple. He will be lovingly missed by his friends and family, but he made us strong to carry on. It was found at his home just before his passing.   Don't grieve for me, for now I'm free, I'm following the path God laid for me. I took his hand when I heard his call, I turned my back and left it all.   I could not stay another day, To laugh, to love, to work, to play. Tasks left undone must stay that way, I've found that peace at the close of the day.   If my parting has left a void, Then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, Ah yes, these things I too will miss.   Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My Life's been full, I savoured much, Good friends, good times, a loved one's touch,   Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, Don't lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your heart and share with me, God wanted me now, He set me free.                                 -Author Unknown
