Clarence Edmond Doss

Clarence (Bud) Edmond Doss, age 88, beloved father and grandfather of Bluefield, WV died at his residence on Sunday, October 1, 2023.

Born on December 29, 1934, in Parrot, VA, he was the son of the late Fred Edmond and Edna Elizabeth Williams Doss.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 55 years, Nellie Jane Murdock Doss, two sisters, Virginia Lois Doss Phillips and Edith Joyce Doss Smith, and three brothers, Alvin Coy Doss, Calvin Roy Doss, and Harold Kenneth Doss. Several nieces and nephews preceded him in death.

He spent most of his career splicing conveyor belts for coal mines at Reid Belt & Rubber Company and later owning his own companies. His favorite job was always taking care of his family and spending time with them.  He was the caregiver for his wife during her battle with cancer and never left her side.  He enjoyed working on cars, attending drag races, watching football games, gardening,  and going for Sunday drives with his family.

Survivors:

Sons:  Clarence Eugene Doss, who was his ever-present sidekick and caregiver and Randall Doss (Thalia Lynn Harris) of the home.

Daughter/Son-in-Law:  Tammy Kinser and husband, Mike, of Bluefield, VA

Granddaughters:  Amanda Kinser of Roanoke, VA, and Jordan Kinser Edwards (Dillon) of Pembroke, VA.

Grandson:  Randall Doss Jr. of Bluefield, WV

Great-Granddaughters:  Everlyn Werblin, Izabella Doss and Annabel Doss all of Bluefield, VA

Other Relatives:  James Robert Murdock, Brother-in-law, Tazewell, VA. He is also survived by several nieces and nephews,

Funeral services conducted on Wednesday, October 4, 2023 at 11:00 am at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home with Rev. Dr. Doug Hyndrich officiating.  Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 10:00 – 11:00 on Wednesday.
