Chester Woodroe Burke, 78, of Gary, passed away on Friday, May 18, 2018 at his loving home. “I have fought a good fight, I have finished the course, I have kept the faith” II Timothy 4:7 Born on March 24, 1940 in Big Stone Gap, VA, he was a son of the late Evelina Lawson Burke and Chester Arthur Burke. He was preceded in death by a son, Chester Woodroe Burke, Jr.; a son in law, Edward Wayne Pugh and a brother in law, Robert (Peanut) Finley. Survivors include his wife of 53 ½ years, Linda Burke of the home; daughter, April Pugh (Charles) Muncy of Anawalt; and the love of his life, Brandi Nicole Pugh of South Hill, WA.; brothers, Lewis Burke of Gary, Jimmy Burke of Gary, and Billy Burke of AL; sisters, Marie Malinowski of MD, and Linda Mullins, of AL, a sister in law, Christine Finley of Gary; a special person he considered as his brother, Darrell Bishop of Gary; good friends, Reba and Curtis Rose of Gary; and several nieces and nephews he loved. The family also wishes to thank Amedysis hospice. Graveside services will be conducted on Friday, May 25, 2018 at 3:00 PM at the Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with Rev. Virgil Green officiating.
