Carroll Davis

Carroll O. Davis, 83, of Nemours, WV, formerly of Pocahontas, VA, left this world for her eternal home on Thursday, June 18, 2020.

Carroll was born July 10, 1936 in Pocahontas, VA, to the late John and Oma Jeffery Odham. She was a graduated of Pocahontas High School. She held various jobs during her lifetime which included being a substitute teacher for more than 15 years with Tazewell County Schools but no job did she cherish more than being the mother of her four children and “Granny” to her grandchildren. She was a longtime member of the Pocahontas Baptist Church and remained active in her church and was faithful to the Lord at the time of her passing. Carroll loved supporting her friends and community and was also active in many organizations including the Eastern Star of WV, the Pocahontas Woman’s Club, American Legion, Lion’s Club and others.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her loving husband, James (Jim) Davis, her cherished son, John Davis; grandson, John Davis, Jr.; sisters, Shirley Odham and Brenda Perdue and a brother, John (Bud) Odham.

Survivors include her sons, Tom (Kim) Davis of Abbs Valley, Jim (Robin) Davis of Pocahontas, VA, a daughter Eve (Mark) Nunley and daughter in law, Janet Davis Bolton of Lamero, KY; sisters, Doris Ellis of Nemours, WV, and Fern Thompson of Kissimmee, FL; 7 grandchildren, 12 great grandchildren and 1 great-great grandchild; many nieces and nephews that she loved dearly; caring neighbors, and her special caretaker in her final days, Marley Blankenship.

Funeral services will be conducted on Tuesday, June 23, 2020 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Pastor Richard Gartlan officiating. Burial will follow at Grandview Memory Gardens in Bluefield, VA where Nicholas Nunley, Tom Davis, II, Steven Davis, Craig Green, Brandon Vest, and Colt Green will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call on Tuesday prior to services, from 10:00-11:00 AM at the funeral home.
