Carolyn Ruth Stewart, 68, of Glenwood Park Road, Princeton, WV, formerly of Bluewell, WV and Dublin, VA passed away on Saturday, October 13, 2018 at GlenWood Park Retirement Village.
Born on June 20, 1950 in Matheny, West Virginia, she was a daughter of the late Rev. D. Homer and Zelma Jewell Stewart.
Carolyn was a member of the Bluewell United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Bluefield High School. She worked as a transcriptionist at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center for many years. Carolyn loved traveling and was happiest spending time with family and friends. Her sweet spirit and fun-loving nature will be sadly missed by all who knew and loved her.
Survivors include two sisters, Marilyn (David) McKinney of Bluewell and Pam (Richard) Broderick of Cincinnati, Ohio; eight nieces and nephews, Kara (Edmond) Smith of Bluefield and Brandon McKinney of Bluewell; Amanda (Kyle) Sweet of Cincinnati, Ohio, Andrea (Justice) Woods of Grand Prairie, Texas, Chad, Mitchell, Adam and Melanie Broderick of Cincinnati, Ohio. Six great nieces and nephews, Karis, Eian and Anniston Smith of Bluefield and Evelynne, Aria and Zelda Sweet of Cincinnati, Ohio.
The family expresses heartfelt love and gratitude to the staff of GlenWood Park Retirement Village who became like family to Carolyn. Her family appreciates the cards, visits, prayers and expressions of love shown to her during her extended illness.
Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at 11:00am at the Bluewell United Methodist Church in Bluewell with Rev. Melissa White and Rev. Gerald Roberts officiating. Burial will follow at a later date at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton.
Friends may call on Tuesday from 6:00-8:00PM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell as well as one hour prior to the service on Wednesday.
Flowers will be graciously accepted but memorial donations are encouraged to be given to Bluewell United Methodist Church, 228 Warden Avenue, Bluefield, WV 24701.
