Carolyn Marie Horne

Carolyn Marie Horne, 68, of Bluefield, WV passed away Friday, August 28, 2020 at Princeton Community Hospital, Bluefield. Born May 24, 1952 in Charlotte, NC, she was a daughter of the late Carl and Patricia Emerson Dixon.  Carolyn had been a life-long resident of Bluefield and worked as a CNA.  In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her grandmother, Missouri Cornell who raised her; one brother, Carl Eugene Dixon, Jr.; three uncles who were like brothers, Jim Ed Cornell, Clarence Cornell, and William Roy Cornell.

Those left to cherish Carolyn’s memory are her fiancé of 32 years, John L. Sullivan of the home; two sons, Christopher Horne of Princeton, WV and Jerry Horne of Bluefield, WV; two daughters, Mary Horne of Bluefield, WV, and Sherry Horne of Bluefield, WV; step-son, Jonathan Sullivan of Bluefield, WV and step-daughter, Jennifer Sullivan of Bluefield, WV; sister, Mary Ellis of Nashville, NC; three grandchildren, Noah Stamper, Bradly Horne, and Dalton Horne; nephew, Brian Ellis; great-nephew, Brandon Ellis; and many more adopted grandchildren left to mourn her passing.

Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Tuesday, September 1, 2020 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. David Bailey officiating.  Interment will follow at Maple Hill Cemetery in Bluefield, VA where family and friends will serve as pallbearers.  The family will receive friends from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at Monday, August 31, 2020 at the funeral home.  Online condolences may be shared with the family at www.cravens-shires.com.
