Carolyn Ann Gipson

Carolyn Ann Gipson, 71, of Bluefield, VA, passed away Thursday, July 23, 2020 at her home.  Born October 5, 1948 in Linville, NC, she was a daughter of the late Otis C. and Ola Mae Ward Thompson.  Carolyn was a graduate of Bluefield High School and was a homemaker. She was a veteran of the United States Air Force. In addition to her parents, Carolyn was preceded in death by her sister, Peggy Burton.

Those left to cherish Carolyn’s memory are her husband, Elbert Gipson of Westwood Nursing Home; Son, Michael Qintini of Australia; four brothers, Otis Thompson of Bluefield, WV, Kenneth Thompson of Littleton, PA, Tommy Thompson and wife, Sharon, of Princeton, WV, and Larry Thompson and wife, Sharon, of Randleman, NC; and Brother-in-law, Phillip Burton of Bluefield, WV.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held Wednesday, August 5, 2020 at 9:00 A.M. at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Bluefield, WV with Father Sebastian Devasy officiating.  Friends and family may call from 8:00 A.M. until the time of service.  Burial will follow at the Southwest Virginia Veteran’s Cemetery in Dublin, Virginia where Military rites will be performed by the United States Air Force.  Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell is serving the Gipson family.
