Rev. Bunnie Watkins, Sr. 92, Airport Rd. Bluefield WV died peacefully surrounded by family on April 12, 2023.
Born at Algoma, February 18, 1931, he was the son of the late Marshall and Gillie Clark Watkins.
Bunnie was an ordained minister and evangelist with the Pentecostal Holiness Church in the Appalachian Conference in Virginia.
He pastored several churches in the surrounding areas in the past years including Yukon, Big Four, Premier, Eckman and Bossevain. He was a retired coal miner and a veteran of the U.S. Army during the Korean war.
He is preceded in death by his parents, 5 brothers and 3 sisters and his first wife Lena Smith Watkins.
Survivors include his loving wife of 38 years Ruby Browning Watkins, Son Bunnie Eugene "Gene" Watkins Jr (Sheila), daughter Alicia Gayle Watkins Brown (Robbie), step daughters Linda Johnson, Carol Browning Shrader (Jim), and Myra Browning Turner (Rock).
Also surviving are Granddaughters Jessica L. Watkins Huff, Megan E. Brown, and Grandson Robert "Trey" Brown III. One Great granddaughter Amber N. Huff, and One Great Grandson Thomas A. "Tripp" Welch III. 5 step Grandchildren, 10 step Great Grandchildren and 1 step Great Great grandchild. Last surviving sibling, Cecil L. Watkins (Brenda).
The family will receive friends on Saturday, April 15, 2023 from 10 a.m. until 11 a.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield, West Virginia.
Funeral Service will begin at 11 a.m. with Pastor Charles Scruggs officiating. Interment will follow in the Woodlawn Cemetery in Bluewell. Pallbearers will be friends and family.
