Buford Samuel Helmandollar, 92 of Princeton, WV, went to his Heavenly home on July 24, 2018 at Charleston Area Medical Center.
Born on February 26, 1926 in McComas, WV, he was the son of the late Roby William and Maudie Riggs Helmandollar. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by his first wife, Kathleen Scott Helmandollar; three brothers, Paul, Curtis and Frankie Helmandollar; four sisters, Lois Browning, Shirley Hall, Kathleen Bowman and Margaret Shoemaker, and a Step-daughter Lynn Neely.
Buford is survived by his wife of 15 years Evelyn Barie Helmandollar; son, Kerry Roby Helmandollar of Princeton; daughter, Sandra Lynn Collins of North Myrtle Beach, SC; step-daughter, Sue Carver and husband Guy of Thomasville, NC; step-sons, Pete Barie and wife Vern, Danny Barie and wife Billie, both of Princeton; Grandchildren, Kaitlyn Lesnett and husband Michael, Kelly Helmandollar, both of Princeton, Jay Charles of Walkertown, NC, Mattie Charles of St. Pete, FL, Jason Charles and companion Sophya of Ashville, NC; Great Grandchildren, Jaden and Kaylee Helmandollar, London Saunders, Penelope and Eli Lesnett, Navia, Lincoln and Chamberlain Charles; 8 step-grandchildren; 6 step great-grandchildren; Brother, Bobby Helmandollar and wife, Macie; Sister, Judy Webb and husband, Bayne; and a host of living nieces and nephews that loved their Christian uncle.
Buford served in WWII in the United States Navy as a gunner in the Pacific Fleet. Upon discharge, he worked in various coal mines, retiring from Crane Creek. For many years, he was known as the Leatherwood milkman.
Buford’s desire was to see others led to Christ, having in just recent weeks led two more to salvation himself. He taught Sunday School in Montcalm for over 20 years with many still commenting on how he impacted their lives. He will be missed by his loving church family of First Assembly of God, Rt. 20, where he was a faithful member and those close who knew him as a godly example of a Christian man and father. He message to everyone was always, “Live for Jesus!”
Funeral services will be held 2:00 PM on Friday, July 27, 2018 at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Pastor Dan Moore officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with Military graveside rites. Honored to be pallbearers will be Ben Helmandollar, Michael Lesnett, Tommy Roberts, Guy Carver, Doug Shell, Dave Lester, Jay Charles and Jaden Helmandollar. The Family will receive friends and relatives on Thursday, July 26, 2018 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM at the funeral home.
