Boyd Lee Bradford, Sr. A life well-lived in service to others
Boyd was born October 31, 1936 in Port Arthur, Texas to Thomas Hayden Bradford and Bessie Irene Bradford, née Wilder, and passed away on January 23, 2019 at the age of 82. He was preceded in death by his parents and first wife, Danielle Hankin Bradford. He was the last surviving of his family.
Left to cherish his memory are: his wife Wanda Watkins Bradford of Bluefield, West Virginia; his three sons, Boyd, Jr (and Leila) of La Palma, California, Bryan (and Teresa) of San Antonio, Texas, Barry of Broomfield, Colorado; three step-daughters Alisa (and Jimmy Blankenship), Jamie (and Clifford Mitchem) of Bluefield, West Virginia, Krista (and Stephen Sisk) of Princeton, West Virginia; eleven grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
Boyd proudly served his country in the United Sates of Air Force for 20 years. He retired in 1975 as a Master Sergeant. He enjoyed many hobbies, including leatherworking when he was younger, camping with his family, and after retiring from civilian life, fishing and making practical and beautiful things from wood.
The Bradford family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, January 27, 2019 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield, WV.
There will be a memorial service on Sunday, January 27, 2019, 7:00 p.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home officiated by Rick Townley and Danny Webb.
An additional memorial service is planned for Friday, February 1, 2019 at Melancon's Funeral Home in Nederland, TX, with a Funeral Service on Saturday, February 2, 2019 also at Melancon’s, to be followed by burial, with full military honors, at Oak Bluff Memorial Park in Port Neches, TX.
