Bonnie Lou Shrader, born on July 25, 1964, in Welch, West Virginia, passed away on January 3, 2025, at the Charleston Area Medical Center after a courageous battle with cancer. She leaves behind a legacy of love, care, and compassion that will forever warm the hearts of those who knew her.
Throughout her life, Bonnie dedicated herself to the service of others. As a cook and caregiver, she embraced her roles with unmatched devotion, nurturing those around her with her culinary talents and her generous spirit. Her home was often filled with the sweet scents of holiday candy, a labor of love that she delighted in sharing with her family. The memories of those holidays will linger on as a testament to her selflessness.
Bonnie was cherished as a strong, resilient woman, described by many as a true angel in the flesh. Her personality radiated warmth, and she was known for her ready smile and her willingness to help anyone in need. “She would give you the shirt off her back” is a sentiment that captures her generous heart perfectly. She touched the lives of countless individuals and was a beloved figure to many, embodying the role of a loving wife, a dedicated mother, and a treasured mamal.
In her personal life, Bonnie found joy in the simple pleasures, such as playing games on her phone, visiting her family, and attending church. These activities brought her happiness and connected her with the loved ones she adored.
Bonnie leaves behind three daughters, Crystal Shirley (Dre) of Bluefield, WV, Michelle King (Robert) of Sanford, NC, and Renee Cook of Beaufort, SC, as well as a son, Jackie Shrader (Tracey) of Bluefield. She was also a proud grandmother to 14 grandchildren and a loving great-grandmother to 3 great-grandchildren, each of whom held a special place in her heart.
She reunites in spirit with her beloved husband, Lee Shrader, her mother, Goldie Church, and her father, Paul Church, all of whom she missed deeply.
Bonnie Lou Shrader will be remembered not only for her unwavering love for her family but for the indelible mark she left on the world around her. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends, who will carry her love and memories with them always.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 9, 2025 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Reverend Keith Milam officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell.
Friends may call prior to services on Thursday, from 1:00-2:00 pm at the funeral home.
