Bonnie Phillips

Bonnie Jean O’Bryan Phillips, age 71,of Bluefield, VA, died unexpectedly on July 19, 2020. Bonnie died at Southeast Georgia Health Systems in Brunswick, GA, surrounded by her loving daughters and sons-in-law.

Bonnie was born on October 16, 1948 to Jack & Betty O’Bryan, now deceased. She was raised in Abbs Valley, Virginia and was a 1967 graduate of Pocahontas High School. Bonnie went on to earn a Nursing Degree from Bluefield State College and spent her career working as a Registered Nurse at Bluefield Regional Medical Center. She retired in 2010 to care for her beloved Ray, who was battling cancer.

Bonnie enjoyed spending every possible minute with her children and grandchildren, walking miles each day, taking care of her immaculate home, and doing for others every chance she got. 

Bonnie was preceded in death by her loving husband of 38 years, who she met when she worked at the Pocahontas Company Store, and sister Belinda “BJ” Davis. She is survived by her two daughters, Megan Stevenson & husband Jake of Bluefield, Virginia and Mandy Holbrook & husband Ronnie of Huntersville, North Carolina. Missing their Nana’s unconditional love and devotion will be grandchildren, Josie & Lacey Stevenson, Madison & Holden Price, and “bonus” grandchildren, Austin, Kailyn, and Eden Holbrook. Also surviving are sister and brother-in-law, Bev & Gary Frowen of Manassas, Virginia and brother & sister-in-law, Barry & Tammy O’Bryan of Midway, West Virginia. Extended family members include Eddie Davis of Abbs Valley, VA; and sister in law, Bet Lusk and husband Tom of Glade Springs, WV, and many other nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.

The family will receive visitors on Friday, July 24, 2020 from 6:00 - 9:00 p.m at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Saturday, July 25, 2020 at 11:00 a.m. at First Baptist Church, 1325 Augusta Street, Bluefield, West Virginia, with Rev. Ed Fisher and Rev. Tom Lusk officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, West Virginia. Pallbearers are nephews, Mike Frowen, Todd Frowen, Bryan Frowen, and Dustin Davis, cousin Brandon Frowen, and special friends, Zachary Toohey and Tyler Harris. Honorary Pallbearers are Jonathan Lusk, Gary Frowen, Eddie Davis, Don White, Abel Soledami, Roger Phipps, Dave Bowers, Dave Chumbley, John Peery, Richard Shumate, Don Harris, Dave Asbury, and Darrell Blackwell.

Due to the uncertain times, we are requiring that nose & mouth coverings be worn for the duration of the funeral.
