Bobby Ray Grose

Bobby Ray Grose, 89, of Windmill Gap, went to be with his Lord and Savior on Sept 30, 2023, at his home  surrounded by his loving family.

Born September 20, 1934 in Crumpler, WV, he was the son of the late Vergil Lewis Grose and Lomie Z. Tilley Grose. He was a resident of Windmill Gap for 71 years.

Bobby was preceded in death by his wife of 71 years. She passed away June 13, 2023 at their home. He was preceded in death by his son, Frankie Grose Sr. and also brother Allen Grose who passed away recently.

When his health permitted, he enjoyed going to Church, and once unable to attend he enjoyed religious programs and gospel music.

Bobby was a coal miner all his life. He especially enjoyed hunting and being outside. He also enjoyed mowing his grass. He took many hunting trips to Alaska, Canada, Colorado, Wyoming and many other states. He had a beautiful hunting trophy room that he enjoyed showing to everyone. He will be remembered for his compassion and love for people and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his son, Kevin Grose and wife Judy of Bluefield WV; and daughter Wanda Doss and husband Jerry of Windmill Gap; Four Grand Children, Ten Great Grand Children and Five Great Great Grand Children.

His family would like to express their sincere gratitude to Dr. Ronald Billips, the entire staff of Hospice Compassus for the loving care they have provided to us all, and Cravens-Shires Funeral Home for their service to his entire family throughout the years.

Funeral Services will be conducted on Tuesday, October 3, 2023 at 1:00 PM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Chapel with Chaplain CT Lilly officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV, where Frankie Grose Jr., Brandon Grose, Joshua Hodges, Mark Beggs, Randy Beggs and Jason Beggs will serve as pallbearers.

The family will receive friends at the funeral home from 12:00-1:00 on Tuesday.
