Bobbie Lee Dunford, 81, of Falls Church, VA was received into the arms of his Heavenly Father on Saturday, September 4, 2021.
Bobbie was born August 14, 1940 in McComas to the late James and Gracie Lambert Dunford. Bobbie left WV as a young adult and found his place with the Arlington County School System where he worked and retired from for many years. This wasn’t his only job as he often worked 2-3 jobs at a time. Bobbie was known to work sometimes until his fingers bled and he was skilled at all his labors. He especially enjoyed working with wood and he mastered the art of building both large construction projects as well as creating many smaller items with intricate details. Bobbie lived in the Falls Church area for 57 years and many local and national charities were the recipients of his generosity. Bobbie had a big heart and always thought of others first. Some of his neighbors had occasionally been flooded and Bobbie liked to keep 50 cases of water on hand in the event that his neighbors were flooded and needed fresh drinking water. Bobbie dearly loved the Lord and his family. He often got lost in the Gospel music that he loved to listen to.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his three brothers, Junior (James) and Bryant Dunford, and Bruce Farrington; and his two sisters, Ethel and Shirley Dunford.
Bobbie leaves behind his lovely bride of less than a year, Bonnie Osborn Dunford; who was his first love more than half a century ago. Their lives took them down separate roads for many years, but they came full circle in 2020 when they were reunited and reignited their love for each other. 2020 held some good things after all. Bobbie will live in the lives of his three children, Michael, Robert and Barbara (Sherry), along with his 10 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.
Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, September 9, 2021 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. George Stamper officiating. Burial will follow at the Belcher Cemetery on Coaldale Mountain.
Friends may call one hour prior to services, from 1:00-2:00 PM on Thursday at the funeral home.
Bobbie is at rest now, having ceased his earthly labors. He is living the dream in eternal glory. 1 Corinthians 2:9, “But as it is written, neither eye hath not seen, nor ear hears, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.”
