Betty Jo passed away on August 16, 2020 at  her home with loved ones by her side.  She is now in heaven with her heavenly Father, her parents and many family members.

 

Betty Jo was born September 30, 1929 in Iaeger, WV.  She was the daughter of the late Montie and Pauline Phelps of Iaeger, WV.  She was a wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  As a homemaker and mother she fulfilled her dream of raising a family.  All her efforts throughout her life were focused on imparting her love on her family which brought her great joy.

 

Married to her loving husband, Marvin Woodie, for 62 years, they spent a lifetime building a wonderful family. 

 

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers  Warren Phelps and Montie Phelps. 

 

In addition to her husband, those living to carry on the joy and grace of her life are her children Myra Yates, Marvin Woodie, Jr., Stuart and his wife Melissa Woodie, grandchildren Gavan and his wife Kelsie Yates, Forrest and his wife Trish Yates, Lauren Woodie, Jessica Woodie, Seth and his wife Amber Woodie, Caroline Woodie, Marshall Woodie, Emma Woodie and one  great grandchild Silas Woodie.

 

The family would like to extend it’s thanks to her in home caregivers, Ruby, Megan, Brenda, and Sharon.

 

A small memorial service will be held at the home of Myra Yates for the  family.  Pastor Jay Ferguson will be part of the services. The family is accepting online condolences at www.cravens-shires.com.

 

In lieu of flowers, donations can be given in honor of Betty Jo Woodie to the First United Methodist Church of  Bluefield, Va Children’s Program.
