Betty Jean Wimmer, 87, of 1800 Whitethorn Extension, Bluefield, WV, formerly of Bradshaw, WV, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, October 18, 2017. She passed away peacefully at Roanoke Memorial Hospital, Palliative Care Unit with family by her side.Betty was a former member of 42 years at the Bradshaw Church of God and current member of the East River Assembly of God in Bluefield, VA. She served as a former President of the Bradshaw Church of God Ladies' Ministeries, YLA Counselor and former Den Mother of Cub Scout # 188 in Bradshaw. She was a devoted wife and mother and impacted the lives of many family, friends and all whom she encountered with her love and compassion.Betty was born April 6, 1930 in Hensley, WV. She was the daughter of the late Delbert Owens and Alice Owens Howell, and was the oldest of twelve children.She was preceded in death by her parents and loving husband, James Hobert WimmerBetty is survived by their four children; James (Donna) Wimmer of Prosperity, SC, Linda Thomas of Gilbert, SC, Brenda Ratliff of Bluefield, WV and Joseph (Lisa) Wimmer of Davin, West Virginia. She is also survived by eight grandchildren- Tracy Bailey, Lewis Thomas II, David Thomas, Brian Wimmer, Megan Martin, Danielle King, Breanna Wimmer, Brett Wimmer; fifteen great grandchildren- Lauren Bailey, Brandon Bailey, Ethan Bailey, Lewis Thomas III, Olivia Thomas, David Thomas II, Izabella Thomas, Leah Wimmer, Gaston Wimmer, Conner Martin, Cillian Martin, Kiara King, Branden King II, Allanuh King, Asher Harvey; seven brothers-Ralph Owens, Everett Owens, Ronald Owens, Jimmy Owens, Jack Hager, Ray Howell, Franklin Howell; four sisters-Faye(Howell) Cole, Virginia Ann(Owens) Lewinski, Hazel Owens, Barbara Owens; one brother-in-law-Victor Wimmer; many cousins, nieces, nephews and a special friend, Donet Glasscock.Visitation will be Saturday, October 21, 2017 from 6-8pm at Craven-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell, Wv. Funeral services will be conducted by Pastor Tim Boyd (East River Assembly of God) and Pastor. James Volpe (Valley View Seventh-day Adventist Church), Sunday, October 22, 2017 at 1:00 pm at theCraven-Shires Funeral Home, Bluefield, WV followed by entombment at Resthaven Memorial Park Mausoleum inPrinceton, WV. Pallbearers will be Brian Wimmer, Brett Wimmer, Thomas Wimmer, Chris Bailey, TerryMiller and Andrew Hosey. Memorial donations can be made to the East River Assembly of God, Bluefield, VA.
