Betty Lou Riggs

Betty Lou Riggs, 84, of Montcalm, West Virginia passed away on Tuesday, August 13, 2019 at her residence.

Betty was born on July 18, 1935 in McComas, West Virginia to the late Clarence and Zora Lusk Dunford. Betty had been a resident of Montcalm for the past 60 years and was a member of the Church of God. She was a long-time foster parent in Mercer County and was a member of the Princeton Moose Lodge.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband Ward Riggs, one son Robbie Riggs and one brother Eugene Dunford.

Betty is survived by seven sons; Ricky Riggs and wife Drema of Princeton, West Virginia, Kirby Riggs and wife Emma of Princeton, West Virginia, Justin Riggs of Tennessee, Bo Riggs of Tennessee, Matthew Riggs of Montcalm, West Virginia, Brian Lilly of Montcalm, West Virginia and Eric Riggs of Montcalm, West Virginia. Two daughters; Rebecca Harrison and husband Hubert of Princeton, West Virginia and Cindy Reed and husband Benny of Montcalm, West Virginia; Two brothers Robert Dunford and wife Debbie of New Hampshire and Freddy Dunford of Montcalm, West Virginia. Five sisters, Aileen Witt of Princeton, West Virginia, Shirley White of Montcalm, West Virginia, Jeanett Perdue and husband Tommy of Brushfork, West Virginia, Phyllis Minnix of Princeton, West Virginia and Loretta Mitchem and husband Denny of Bluefield, West Virginia. She is also survived by fifteen grandchildren, nineteen great grandchildren and two great great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held on Friday, August 16, 2019 at 1:00pm at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield, West Virginia with Rev. David Hercey officiating the service. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, West Virginia where Benny Reed, Calvin Roark III, Kevin White, Ben Roark, Curtis Beavers, Kirby Dean Riggs Jr., Greg Jones and Ricky Riggs Jr. serving as pallbearers.

The Riggs family will receive friends and relatives on Friday, August 16, 2019 from 12:00 pm (Noon) until 1:00 pm at the funeral home.
