Betty Jo Bridgeman

Betty Jo Bridgeman, 87, of Camp Creek, Formerly of Bluewell, passed Friday October 9, 2020 at GlenWood Park Retirement Village.

Born on March 3, 1933 in Bluefield, VA, she was a daughter of the late James Weldon and Millie Agnes Smith Thompson. She was the last surviving member of her immediate family. She was of the Christian faith with the Church of Christ. She was a well-known seamstress in Bluewell.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles “Charlie” Arthur Bridgeman, Sr.; one son, Joseph “Joe” Bridgeman; and her only sister, Shirley Moses.

Survivors include her one son, Charles “Boch” Arthur Bridgeman, Jr. and wife Sarah of Lorton Lick Road; two daughters, Amy Lockhart and Beatrice “Babs” Bridgeman and daughter in law, Kathy Bridgeman of Camp Creek; 6 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.

The family would like to extend a very special heart given “Thank You” sent to the staff at GlenWood Park Retirement Village, Safe Harbor, and Amedysis Hospice for all the loving care given and to the many friends made.

Services will be conducted on Wednesday, October 14, 2020 at 2:00 PM at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell with Pastor C.T. Lilly officiating. Burial will follow with family and friends serving as pallbearers.

Friends may call prior to services on Wednesday, from 1:00-2:00 PM at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the funeral home.
