Ava Joyce Stowers

Ava Joyce Stowers, 87, of Roma Road, North Tazewell, VA, passed away on Tuesday, May 2, 2017 at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.   Born on October 9, 1929 in Raleigh County, she was a daughter of late Morris B. and Ethel Dalton Wimmer. She had been a resident of North Tazewell for 60 years and was a member of the Mt. Zion United Methodist Church. She was a homemaker.   In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Bernard Stowers; an infant daughter, Shelia Diana Stowers; and 4 brothers, Arnold, Dewey, Melville and Harold Stowers.   Survivors include:   Son:       Gary Stowers and wife Lillian of North Tazewell, VA   Daughter:            Rhonda Dalton and husband Greg of North Tazewell, VA   3 grandchildren:               Garyn Stowers of North Tazewell, VA                                                 Michael Taylor and Cheryl of North Tazewell, VA                                                 Melanie Taylor and Bryan Wohlford of Athens, GA   2 great grandchildren:    Elijah Taylor and Elianna Taylor North Tazewell, VA   Brother:               Dennis Wimmer and wife Carolyn of Montcalm   Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, May 5, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Steve Branch officiating.
