Aubrey (Railroad Nickname "Little Darlin") Workman, 87 of Bluefield, WV passed away from this world on Saturday, August 13, 2022 at home, to his Heavenly home.
Aubrey was born in Bluefield, WV on September 18, 1934, served in the United States Army and worked for the NW&NS Railroad for 39 years as a brakeman and conductor. He started his career with the railroad when steam locomotives were in use. He was a member of the Maple View Church of Christ. Aubrey loved trips to the beach, Claytor Lake, and visiting family. In earlier years, he loved to fish and hunt. Aubrey was a friend to all and will be greatly missed.
He was preceded in death by his parents and brother, Aubrey, Ethel, and Myles Workman.
He is survived by his wife of 65 years, Sara K. Workman; sons Michael and Butch, daughter in law Mary Ann, grandchildren Adam and his wife Stephanie Workman, Kristen and her husband Grant Powers, sister in law Martha and her husband Bill Aldridge, brother in law Mike and his wife Betty Spangler, nieces and nephews, and cousins.
Graveside service will be held at Roselawn Memorial Gardens on Thursday, August 18, 2022 at 12:00 Noon with Minister Richard Lindamood officiating. Burial will follow. Military honors will be performed by the Mercer County Veterans Honor Guard. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the cemetery.
