Archie Lane

Archie Dwinington Lane, 95 of Pilot Mountain, NC was taken up to heaven by the Angels to meet his beautiful wife Wednesday morning, April 3, 2019.

He was born in Kimball, West Va., March 6, 1924 to Jayhue and Eliza Green Lane. He made his home for most of his life in Welch, WV and he was a retired coal miner from A.T. Massey at Shannon Branch Mine in Capels, West Va. He was a member of Sweet Home Baptist Church in Princeton, West Virginia.

He was preceded in death by his lovely wife of 61 years, Gladys Belcher Lane, 14 brothers and 1 sister. He was the last surviving sibling in his family.

He is survived by his three children and spouses, Roger and wife, Kim Lane of Pilot Mountain, NC, Alan Lane of Bristol, VA and Karen Lane Hatmaker and husband, Jerry of Kernersville, NC., 4 grandchildren, Roger Lane, Jr. of Radford, VA, Angela Hatmaker-Thompson of Kernersville, NC, Jerry Hatmaker and wife, Amanda of King, NC and Tiffany Lester and husband Greg of Iaeger, WV and 8 great-grandchildren, Miranda Thompson Smith and husband, Jordan of Mount Airy, NC., Savanah Thompson of King, NC., Chloe Hatmaker, Malachi Hatmaker and Matthew Hatmaker of King, NC and Joshua Lane of Radford, VA, Kylie Lester and Emery Lester of Iaeger, WV. He also has 2 special friends, Erie Walters of Princeton, WV & Jessie Dotson of Bluefield.

Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield, WV with Elder Thurman Belcher and Elder Kevin Belcher officiating. Mr. Lane will be laid to rest beside his wife, Gladys, in Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with grandsons and great-grandsons serving as pallbearers.

Friends may on Friday from 6-8PM at the funeral home.
