Archie 'Jr' Amos Thompson, Jr, 58 of Ingleside Road, Bluefield, WV passed away Friday April 14, 2017. Born in Bluefield, WV on May 4, 1958, he was the son of the late Archie Amos Thompson, Sr. and the late Minnie Abbatiello Taylor Thompson. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one brother, Frankie Taylor; one sister, Louise Poynter; one daughter, Tonya Helton; two nephews, David Poynter & Jerry Wayne Harmon; and one niece, Donna Harmon Chaffin. Jr was a lifelong mechanic and he eventually retired from the city of Bluefield. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends, being outdoors, fishing, going to the races and riding his motorcycles. Survivors include his wife Deborah Jane Thompson. Four sons: Billy 'BJ' Thompson and fiancé Tabitha Noland of Bluefield, WV; Scott Tibbs and wife Frankie of Princeton, WV; Buddy Allen Tibbs and wife Marlana of Thomasville, NC; James Nick Hurt and wife Jennifer of Bluefield, VA. Son-in-law: Calvin Helton of Thomasville, NC; One Daughter: Amber Thompson of Bluefield, WV. Three Brothers: Scotty Thompson, Joe Taylor, Johnny Taylor. Three sisters: Joyce Farmer, Mary Chandler, Shirley Eanes. Two Lifelong friends who deserve special mention: Pete Brooks and Buddy Burton. Several grandchildren and great-grandchildren, as well as multiple nieces, nephews, cousins and friends all to remember him. Services to celebrate the life of Archie 'Jr' Amos Thompson, Jr will be held on Saturday, April 22, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield, WV with Jr's niece Brandy Taylor Cardwell officiating the memorial service. Friends may call on Saturday prior to services, from 12:00-1:00PM at the funeral home. The family will receive friends at the home immediately following the service on Saturday.
