Anita J. Bowden

July 29, 1935 — October 24, 2019

Anita J. Bowden, 84, of Bluefield, Virginia was born into eternal life on Thursday, October 24th, 2019, at Bluefield Regional Medical Center.

She was born to Stanley Harrison Yates and Elsie Marie (Gullion) Yates on July 29th, 1935 in Bluestone, West Virginia.

Anita was a spunky, fun-loving, vivacious woman who loved life. More importantly, she was a woman of deep and abiding faith in her Lord Jesus Christ.

Anita’s contributions in the work force include serving on the staff of United Airline’s Sky Chef, a Respiratory Therapist at the University of Colorado Medical Center, and Receptionist at Ramey’s Chevrolet in Tazewell, Virginia.

She was an amazing cook, most remembered for her pecan cinnamon rolls and hot cross buns.

Her most important contributions manifested themselves through her self-giving love, compassion, sagacious teaching, and effective parenting. Her children have arisen to call her blessed (Proverbs 31:28).

She was preceded in death by her husband Roy Leland Bowden, and her parents Stanley and Elsie Yates.

Anita is survived by her children; Roy Leland Bowden, Jr. and his wife, Tina; Rev. Dr. James (Jim) Bradley Bowden and his wife, Martha; Allison Marie Dye; Ralana Danette Taylor and her husband, Ken; Deborah Lynn Bowden-Mock; Brenda Sue Hall, and her husband, Tad. She was the proud matriarch of 6 children, thirteen grandchildren, and thirteen great-grandchildren.

She fought the good fight (2 Timothy 4:7-8). She now rests from her labors and her deeds follow her (Revelation 14:13). She now resides eternally in a house not made with hands, but eternal in the heavens (2 Corinthians 5:1).
