Amy JoEllen McVey, 49, of Bramwell, overcame the pain of this earth and entered Jesus’s arms on Thursday, April 4, 2024, at UK Good Samaritan Hospital in Lexington, KY, surrounded by her family. Amy was born on June 26, 1974 to Leonard Dailey and Beverly McVey. She was a 1992 graduate of Montcalm High School.
Amy went on to receive her Bachelor’s Degree and two Master’s Degrees and was the Special Education Teacher at Kimball Elementary School in Welch. She poured her heart and soul into her students and found great joy in their successes. Amy was always busy finding ways to encourage and uplift her students and her school community and felt that was her true calling in life. Amy was a Christian and an active member of the Pine Grove Church of Christ.
Amy is survived by her brother, John (April) McVey of Nitro, WV; her sister, Amanda McVey of Bramwell; her nephews, Christopher and Nathan McVey of Nitro, WV; and her niece, Caitlin Taylor of Knoxville, TN.
The family would like to thank her friends and community for their love, encouragement, and support during her illness. A special thank you to her close friends, Johnny and Monica Williams, and her “bestie” Candice Taylor.
A celebration of Amy’s life will be held on Saturday, April 13, 2024, at 11 am at Pine Grove Church of Christ with Minister Gary Lamie officiating. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Pine Grove Church of Christ Women’s Blanket Fund, which is a ministry that Amy wanted to start to provide blankets to dialysis patients.
Friends may call prior to services, from 10:00-11:00 AM at the church.
