On March 1, 2022, Amanda Kay Overbaugh Heffinger, 78, left this earth and went into the arms of Jesus, her Savior.
She was born August 10, 1943 to Clowney and Irene Blevins Overbaugh in Anawalt. She was a longtime member of the Longpoint Baptist Church in Anawalt and taught children’s Sunday School for many years. She was a 1961 graduate of Gary High School and attended Concord and Bluefield State. In 1964, she caused quite a bit of excitement for her family and eloped with Preston Heffinger. They were married for 25 years until his passing in 1989. They had a ceramic shop in their home for a number of years and enjoyed all of the friendships they made. She was a retired PMR with USPS having worked at Anawalt Post Office and other area post offices.
Along with her husband, she is preceded in death by her precious first grandchild, Nicholas Dale Walker and her great granddaughter, Hadleigh Jean Walker, and also, her brother and his wife, Howard and Sharon Overbaugh, and brother in law, Frank Shupe.
She loved her family, especially her grandchildren and great granddaughters, Jacob Walker and wife Megan and daughters, Emmalyn Rose, Josie Lynn, and soon to come, Lennon Virginia; Jason Walker, and wife Allison, daughter, Everleigh Kay all of Springfield, TN; Samantha Paige Heffinger and Taylor Grace Heffinger of Anawalt. They all have wonderful memories of her to take with them. She told them to carry her love in their hearts and never forget how much she loved them.
Her daughter, Sherry Kay Walker and husband Chris of Springfield, TN, and her son, Steve Heffinger and wife Dana with whom she made her home in Anawalt, survive her. Also her 3 sisters, Linda Shupe, Patty Beverly and husband Nelson, and Karen Miller and husband Joe.
She will be missed by so many loved ones and friends but we will rejoice in knowing “that to be absent from the body, is to be present with the Lord” -and she is.
