Alvin Lee Grose, 66, of New Hope Road, Bluefield, went to his heavenly home unexpectedly September 18th 2018 at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, WV. Alvin was born in Worth, WV on February 10th 1952.
Alvin was a devoted, loving and faithful husband and best friend to his wife of 44 years.
His sons Matthew, Andrew and Daughter-In-Law Krystal were the greatest lights in his life. He was the best “Pappy” to his grandbabies, Jaxson and Charity, they were his world. They were his and pride and joy. He enjoyed and was so thankful for his loving family and was grateful for all the time he shared together with them.
Throughout his life he enjoyed carpentry, camping, church activities, vacationing and family time.
Alvin was a lifelong member of Voice of Praise Worship Center in Bluewell, WV where he served as a deacon, Church Christian Education Director, Building Team Member and Church Maintenance Team Member. He loved and served the Lord faithfully and with passion. Alvin frequently shared his memories of being blessed by mission team trips to Belize and Costa Rica ministering by building a church and building homes for the people. He loved his church family and the times of fellowship throughout the years.
Never meeting a stranger and with a selfless heart he always looked for the good attributes in people and loved conversation. We will all remember his contagious laugh, joyful personality and his love to make those around him smile
He is a graduate from Bluefield High School and Bluefield State College with a degree in Electrical Engineering.
Alvin worked in the mining, industrial and tunneling industries providing electrical power equipment during his entire working career. He was employed by Elgin Power Solutions/Mining Control, Inc. in Beckley, WV where he traveled as a national and international sales group member. He enjoyed working with his present and past coworkers and served his customers with the upmost integrity and dedication.
Alvin worked with the Bluefield Chamber of Commerce on the electrical committee for the Bluefield Coal Show.
He is survived by his adoring wife Pamela Beggs Grose. Admiring sons Matthew and Andrew and wife Krystal, two grandchildren Jaxson Grose and Charity Grose; His mother Arvella Crites Grose. Sisters: Shirley Sadler and husband Barry, Pam Sarver and husband Kenny; one maternal aunt, Louise Morris; one paternal uncle, Ralph Crites, many nieces, nephews, great nieces and nephews as well as many friends and loved ones.
He is preceded in death by his father, Sylvester “Bud” Grose; paternal grandparents,
Henry B. and Sadie Grose; maternal grandparent, Lola Crites, and many aunts, uncles and family members.
Alvin loved his family and friends deeply and will be greatly missed.
Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, September 21, 2018 at 7:00 PM at the Voice of Praise Worship Center in Bluefield with Rev. N. R. Taylor officiating. Friends may call prior to services, from 5:00-7:00PM at the church.
Graveside services for family and friends will be conducted on Saturday, September 22, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton with family and friends serving as pallbearers. Those wishing to attend are asked to meet at the Voice of Praise Worship Center at 10:15AM.
