Alberta Rosa Lee Akers, 64, of Washington Avenue, Princeton, passed away on Monday, January 8, 2018 at her home.
Born on January 3, 1954 in Bluefield, she was a daughter of the late Albert Lee and Joann Smith Hudgins Jenkins. She had been a lifelong resident of Mercer County and was a devoted wife and mother.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Joann and David Smith and Albert Lee Jenkins; and grandparents, Frank and Mary Hudgins.
Survivors include:

Husband: Douglas Wayne Akers of the home

4 sons: Roy Mitchem and wife Mary of Bluefield
Rossie Mitchem of Princeton
Jessie Collins and fiancé Angie of Princeton
Alex Whitlow of the home

8 grandchildren, 3 great grandchildren

3 brothers: Bobby Smith and wife Robin of Dublin, VA
Ronnie Smith and wife Debi of Elliston, VA
Johnny Hudgins and wife Becky of Bluewell

2 sisters: Renee Scarberry and husband Tinker of Floyd County, VA
Rosemary Parker and husband Tony of Elliston, VA

Funeral services will be conducted on Thursday, January 11, 2018 at 2:00PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Minister Jeff Dalton officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell where Jessie Collins, Rossie Mitchem, Tinker Scarberry, Tony Parker, Bronson Belcher, David Scarberry, Craig Dunagan, and Kenny Farley will serve as pallbearers.

Friends may call on Thursday from 1:00-2:00PM at the funeral home.
