David Edward Shannon

                David Edward Shannon, 82, of Rustic Hill Drive Princeton, West Virginia was called home to be with his LORD on Thursday, March 23, 2017 at Princeton Community Hospital.                 David was born January 05, 1935 in Keystone, West Virginia to the late Clarence Shannon and Bertie Virginia Moore Shannon Yost. He had been a lifelong resident of Princeton and was a veteran of the US Army. David was a retired Section Forman in the coal mines and after his retirement he went to work with the City of Princeton, West Virginia. David was loved by everyone that knew him. The great grandchildren loved their Pappaw, they always said he” always spoiled them rotten”.                  In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by one brother Robert Shannon; his daughter Sandra K. Shannon and one son Michael Lee Shannon.                 Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 56 years Dorothy “Dottie” Watkins Shannon of the home; three sons Gary Shannon of Princeton, West Virginia; Ricky Shannon and wife Kathy of Princeton, West Virginia and Jeff Shannon of Princeton, West Virginia; Two sisters Shelby Jean Leedom of Princeton, West Virginia and Eva Fay Shannon of Princeton, West Virginia. One Brother Ray Shannon and wife Nancy of Lynchburg, Virginia; Grandchildren Kari, Kayla, Amy, Kelli, Matthew and Trevor. Four great grandchildren and one on the way.                  Funeral service will be held for David on Monday, March 27, 2017 at 1:00 p.m. at Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield, WV with Pastor Bill “Nick” Belcher officiating the service. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluefield, WV where Wayne Shumate, Mack Estep, Matt Shannon, Jackson Blevins, Trevor Shannon, Josh Martin and Anthony Shrewsbury will be serving as pallbearers.                  The Shannon family will receive friends and relatives on Sunday, March 26, 2017 from 6:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.                 Online condolences will be accepted at www.cravens-shires.com
