BELARIDINO (BENNY) SALPINI, 91, of McLean, VA and formerly of Welch, died peacefully in a group home care facility in McLean, VA on March 20, 2017 following an extended period of health issues related to severe Dementia. Born in Welch, WVA on January 29, 1926. Benny was a devoted Father and Husband for over 50 years. He will be remembered for his work ethic, love of cars, colorful depiction of everyday life and knack for mischief making. At 17, Benny enlisted in the Navy in World War II and fought in the Pacific alongside future President Gerald Ford. Upon completing his tour of duty, he returned to West Virginia and married his wife, Louise, in 1949. After moving to Northern Virginia, he worked for Chesapeake & Potomac/AT&T as a telephone technician for over 30 years. He then worked for Bob Peck/Jim McKay Chevrolet as a salesman for another 20 years. Benny is survived by his brother Rick; his two sons, Dean (Joy) and Kirk (Mary); and six grandchildren, Jessica, Emily, Kirsten, Kate, Colleen and Cara. Funeral services will be held on Friday, March 24, at 10:00 am at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluefield with Deacon Don Hammond officiating. Burial services will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluefield. The viewing will take place on Friday, prior to services, from 9:00-10:00 AM at the funeral home.
