Helen Virginia (Ginny) Goode died Tuesday, March 07, 2017 at Glenwood Park Retirement Village in Princeton, WV. She moved to Glenwood Park Retirement Village in Princeton, May 31, 1995 from St. Albans, WV. Helen was born April 30, 1926 in Mount Hope, WV, moved to Norfolk, VA in 1944 and returned to West Virginia where she became affiliated with National Bank of Commerce of Charleston (now Huntington Bank) in 1976, later resigning her position as vice president and director of human resource to form People Incorporated. As president, she provided consulting service to management of various businesses throughout the state. Additionally, she served as the first personnel director, Kanawha County Public Library System. Active in professional and community organization, she was a past president of the former Altrusa Club of Charleston. Through the years in both Virginia and West Virginia, she was an active participant as a volunteer and donor in the blood program of the American Red Cross, having donated a total of 18 gallons of blood. As a member of First Presbyterian Church, St. Albans, she was a church school teacher, circle bible moderator, a member of the Sessions and of numerous committees where she was selected for honorary membership in Presbyterian Woman’s, Presbyterian Church (USA). At First Presbyterian Church , Bluefield she was active in Circle 2. She was an former volunteer and team leader in the Senior Ambassadors Program, WV Welcome Center in Princeton, WV. She served for a number of years as GWP’s Resident Representative/Spokesperson. Helen was preceded in death by her parents, Robert Lawrence and Lena Epling Goode; uncle C.J. Kirby; several aunts, uncles and cousins. She is survived by one aunt; Mrs. C.J. Kirby, Jr (Mary Lou) of Bluewell, WV and one uncle and aunt, Richard B and Juanita Epling of Roanoke, VA, as well as cousins and special friend Dorwin and Carolyn Byrd of Bluewell, WV. Funeral service will be held on Friday, March 10, 2017 at Glenwood Park Retirement Village Chapel at 9:45 a.m. with Speaker Dorwin Byrd and pianist Wanda Doss officiating the service. Burial will follow a Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV. Friends and relative will be received from 9:00 a.m. until 9:45 a.m. at the Glenwood Park Retirements Village Chapel. In lieu of flowers Ginny suggested that memorial contributions be made to Glenwood Park Retirement Village 1924 Glenwood Park Road Princeton, WV 24739 or to a charity of one’s choice.
