Leonard Junious Mitchell

                Leonard Junious Mitchell, 83, of Bluefield, WV passed away on Tuesday, February 14, 2017 at Princeton Community Hospital in Princeton, WV.                 Leonard was born on March 20, 1933 in Bramwell, WV to the late Sallie Jenkins Mitchell. He had been a resident of Mercer County for most of his life and a retired coal miner with US Steel in Gary, WV and Pinnacle mines in Pineville, WV with 25 years of service. He was a member of the UMWA.                 In addition to his mother he was preceded in death by two brothers Hobart Mitchell, Harold Mitchell and two sisters Sally Hymrod and Josephine McFerren.                 He is survived by his wife Nancy Smith Mitchell of the home; one son Donald Keith Mitchell and wife Carole of Richmond, VA and one daughter Nancy Karen Dixon of Bluefield, WV. He was the last member of his family.  He is also survived by four grandchildren Kristina Leigh Dixon of Bluefield, WV, Danielle Nichole Dixon of Christiansburg, VA, Jennifer Elizabeth Mitchell of Richmond, VA and Melissa Carole Mitchell of Richmond, VA.                 Graveside rites will be held on Friday, February 17, 2017 at 3:00 p.m. at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton, WV where Minister Gary Lamie will officiate the graveside service. Family and friends will be serving as pallbearers.                 Those wishing to attend the service are asked to meet at the funeral home by 2:30 p.m.                 Online condolences will be accepted at www.cravens-shires.com
