Rev. Ray Merle Conrad, age 78, of Cranley Road, Powell, TN, died on January 24, 2017 at the University of Tennessee Medical Center in Knoxville, TN. Born on June 4, 1938 in Monterville, WV, he was a son of the late George Glenn and Jessie Bonner Conrad. He was a faithful minister for the United Methodist Church having served at Adrian UMC in 1966, Hardin-New Hope-Dayton North UMC in 1972, Church of the Good Shepherd in 1975, Shady Spring UMC in 1977, Athens UMC in 1978, Bramwell UMC in 1982, White Sulphur Springs UMC in 1992 and retired in 2000. Survivors include: His wife: Verlie Sarah Conrad of the home Daughters: Patsy Lynn Tanner and husband Mike of Hickory, NC Janet Rhea Holcomb and husband Tommy of Powell, TN Sister: Elaine Conrad Fimmel and husband Jon of MontanaBrother: Cameron Ware of Doyles Town, Ohio 6 Grandchildren: Randall Cox and wife Jackie, Patrick Tanner, Matthew Ashley and wife Bridgett, Sara Dunkelburger and husband Kevin, Kaycee Perkins and husband Matt and Marissa Middleton and husband Matthew. 6 Great-Grandchildren Niece: Erin Fimmel Nephew: Sean Fimmel Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 27, 2017 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Steven Rector officiating. Entombment will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. His grandchildren will be serving as his pallbearers. Friends may call on Friday from 12:00 Noon until 2:00 PM prior to the service.
