Alma Jean Gillenwater, 82, of Matoaka Road (Lake Bottom), Rock, WV, passed away Monday, January 16, 2017 at his home. Born on June 10, 1934 in Oakvale, she was a daughter of the late Noah and Vergie Rosa Thomas. She had been a resident of Matoaka Road for 27 years and attended the Roger Street Community Church. She formerly worked for Holiday Inn as a housekeeper. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, William Harvey Gillenwater; a son, Eugene Gillenwater; a granddaughter, Angie Swartz; a grandson, Ryan Hudson; brothers, Odean and Freeman; and sisters, Mary and Marie. Survivors include: Son: James Lee Gillenwater of Princeton Daughters: Dora Kay Clark and Robert of Blacksburg, VA Virginia Diane Presnell of Smithfield, TN Carol Sue Hudson of Lake Bottom 22 grandchildren; 20 great grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren Brothers: Omega Thomas and Linnie Mae of OH David Thomas and Betty of Princeton Freddy Thomas and Sue of High Point, NC Sisters: Cleo Dull of Princeton Wanda Thompson and Jimmy of Princeton The family also wishes to thank Dr. Phade for the great care he has provided. Funeral services will be conducted on Friday, January 7, 2017 at 11:00 AM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell with Rev. Rick Setser officiating. Burial will follow at Roselawn Memorial Gardens in Princeton where family and friends will serve as pallbearers. Friends may call on Thursday from 6:00-8:00PM at the funeral home.
