Mary Wood

Mary Coppino Wood, 84, of Brandywine Lane, Bluefield, passed away on Tuesday, January 10, 2017 at the Commonwealth Assisted Living in Christiansburg, VA. Born on October 7, 1932 in Northfork, she was a daughter of the late Gaetano Coppino and Georgia Henderson Null. She had been a resident of Bluefield for most of her life and was a graduate of Beaver High School. She had retired from the Bluefield Science Center. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Rufus Wood, Jr.; Survivors include: Son: Charles R. Wood, III and wife Kim of Virginia Beach, VA; Daughters: Deborah Ewing and husband Paul of Blacksburg, VA, Patty Poe and husband Michael of Bluefield, WV and Billie Johnson and husband Joseph of Bluefield, VA; Five grandchildren: Bradley Ewing and wife Lisa of Blacksburg, VA, Jason Ewing of Blacksburg, VA, Tracy Scott and husband Dwain of Louisa, KY, Michael Poe and Sarah of Columbia, MD and Lauren Wood, MD of Los Angeles, CA Five great grandchildren: Reed, Scarlett, Camille, Major, and Cameron Ewing, all of Blacksburg, VA; Sister: Lillian Helmandollar and husband Bobby of Bluewell, WV and many nieces and nephews Funeral services will be conducted on Saturday at 12:30PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Larry Roberts officiating. Private Entombment will follow at a later date. Friends may call on Saturday from 11:30-12:30 at the funeral home.
