Karen "Pug" Garris

Karen L. Carver Garris “Pug”, of Wintergreen Street, Bluefield, WV went into rest with her Savior, Jesus Christ on Sunday, December 18, 2016, at Princeton Community Hospital with her family and friends by her side. Karen was born on May 25, 1951, in Bluefield, WV to the late Porter and Viny Carver. She had lived in Bluefield most of her life and was a member of the Church of God in Montcalm. She was a devoted Christian who lived to serve the Lord and served her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ faithfully. Karen also served her community as well.  Karen loved ministering to others and was a very kind hearted and giving woman. Karen always had so many loving friends and always enjoyed making new ones. Karen loved everyone in her life unconditionally. Karen will be missed, but, will live in our hearts forever. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by sisters, Katherine Carver and Annie Tiller; and brothers, Arthur, Sherman, Billy Ray, Darrell and Robert Carver. Survivors include: Husband: James Garris of Bluefield, WV Son: Steven Helmandollar and wife Bonnie of Humble, TX Grandchildren: Cody Helmandollar and wife Britney of Redmond, OR, and Cortney Helmandollar of Redmond, OR Sisters: “Twin Sister” Sharon Belcher, Glenna Blevins and Reta Faye Tiller of Bluefield, WV Special Mother-in-Law: Myrtle Carver of Bluefield, WV Special Sister-in-Law: Joyce Carver Special Friends: Thomas Kirby and wife Marie, Bonnie Taylor and Patsy Thorton Funeral services will be held on Thursday, December 22, 2016 at 2:00 PM at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home in Bluewell with Rev. Mac Riggins, Rev. Ryan Lawrence and Rev. David Lusk officiating. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Bluewell. Serving as pallbearers will be, Brian Broyles, Tim Law, Brian Johnson, Eugene Penland, Stanley Jennings, Ronnie Smith and Benjamin Broyles. Friends may call on Thursday from 1:00 PM until 2:00 PM prior to the service. The family is accepting online condolences at www.cravens-shires.com. The Cravens-Shires Funeral Home, 3431 Coal Heritage Road, Bluefield, WV is in charge of arrangements.
